At least a 6 month old Reddit account - Anyone posting any “For Sale” items must have a Reddit account that is at least 6 months old (NO EXCEPTIONS!), with at least some activity apart from the comment in this post about selling their parts. Hi all, my name is Chris and I'm the co-founder of a nearly 5-years-old CNC router manufacturing company in Canada called Sienci Labs. You may of heard of our popular LongMill CNC. It's important to us that we not only make the machines but also provide all the resources that we can to help guide CNC newcomers to learn this exciting technology.

I am primarily interested in having a CNC to assist with woodworking projects, including making templates, cutting joinery etc. Ideally I'd need about 24x36" of workspace. For anything CNC related: CAD, CAM, automation, and more! CNC operator is typically an unskilled position where you just keep a job running, and if something goes wrong you call someone over to fix it. The pay is not great, same as fast food in some places. A "set up guy" would be the person who actually knows how to set up the machines, change tooling, and get the programs running for the operators.
If you have the money, get a small CNC router and learn how it works. YouTube tutorials are a great start, but if you want to work in the industry having some kind of certification will get you a job much faster. TLDR: Starting CNC machining from scratch is very hard, but so are most jobs.
